Update: June 27, 2011: Jury Convicts Rod Blagojevich on 17 of 20 Counts.

(Note: Rod Blagojevich was impeached by the Illinois House of Representatives on January 9, 2009, and was subsequently removed from office on January 29, 2009, by a unanimous 59–0 vote in the Illinois State Senate. Governor Blagojevich’s removal from office occurred one month to the day after the seven photos in this series were taken of his Springfield office.)

Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was often known to make references to his two heroes: Richard Nixon and Elvis. In 1980, when the future Democratic Governor was only 23, he actually camped outside Nixon’s home until the former President emerged to greet him and autograph a book. It is interesting to note that Governor Blagojevich’s impeachment by the Illinois House on January 9, 2009, fell on what would have been Richard Nixon’s 96th birthday.

The former Governor also is a BIG FAN of Elvis. This Elvis statue, given to the Governor as a present by the late State Sen. Vincent Demuzio (D-Carlinville), held a prominent place behind the Governor’s desk.

You are invited to stay and browse through my stream. Here’s a quick index to my little corner of Flickr:

Automobile Photographs
: This is a very large collection of images whose primary, but not exclusive, focus is on American automotive classics. Images are organized by decade, by manufacturer, and by topics (such as convertibles, station wagons, muscle cars, etc.)

Central Illinois (except Springfield)
: Central Illinois (except Springfield): Photos relating to the middle section of the "Land of Lincoln" (except for the Capital City of Springfield) may be found in this collection. Every city and town I’ve photographed is contained within its own set, and rural (as in "countryside") photographs are grouped by county.

Springfield, Illinois
: All of my photographs of Springfield and the Abraham Lincoln Sites are in this collection. For the City of Springfield, there are separate sets for the Capitol Complex, Downtown (including the Old State Capitol), Neighborhoods, Parks, Illinois State Fairgrounds and more. Photographs of Lincoln sites include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln Tomb, and so on. Also in the Lincoln "All About Abe" (Set) are a few Lincoln sites not located in Springfield.

The Illinois State Fair
: My collection of photographs of the Illinois State Fair. The fair offers something for everyone. Grab a corn dog and lemon shake-up, and come take a look!

Beyond Central Illinois
: Other locales in the United States and Canada including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.

In addition to my location-based sets, here are links to some "topical" collections and sets I’ve put together:

Barbers & Barber Shops
: Traditional barbers and barber shops are on the endangered species list. But there are still plenty to be found if you go looking for them.

Almost Everything Else. Check It Out!!!
: Included topics range from man’s first walk on the moon to small town schools and churches, and from Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers (our favorite breed) to things that are abandoned, neglected, weathered, or rusty.

The first muscle you need to exercise is your brain if you hope to be successful at muscle building. Taking in knowledge about the best techniques for building muscle, is key to achieving the desired results. Continue ahead for some helpful ideas that can help you build up your muscles so that you can get the body you seek.

A diet rich in lean protein is your best friend when you are trying to build muscle. Muscles are built from protein and the body needs plenty to rebuild them. Not consuming enough protein limits the amount of muscle mass your body can actually grow. Eat lean proteins no less than twice a day with meals, and at least once in the form of a snack.

Try creating an illusion that you are bigger than you actually are. Build up your upper chest, back and shoulders through targeted exercise. When you do this, your waist will look smaller, and the rest of you will look bigger.

It can be beneficial to train opposite muscles during the same workout. Examples are the muscles in your back and the muscles in your stomach, or the quads and the hamstrings. The muscle you were previously working will be allowed to rest while you are working the other muscle. As a result, you can increase your workout intensity because you are limiting the amount of time that you have to spend in a gym.

You need to make sure you eat plenty of vegetables in order to maintain a healthy diet. Diets that are designed to promote muscle growth typically emphasize protein and complex carbs while placing much less importance on vegetables. Vegetables give you important nutrients which aren’t in foods that usually have a lot of protein or carbs. Additionally, they are great sources of fiber. The more fiber you eat, the more benefit you will get from the protein in your diet.

Continually change your exercise routine. Workout routines can become boring over time, which may keep you from sticking with it. Engage in different exercises each time you workout to ensure you work different groups each time. By doing this, you will stay motivated and exercise at optimal levels.

Consider plyometric exercises. This type of exercise develops the fast twitch fibers of your muscle, which stimulates muscle growth. Plyometrics require lots of quick moves and acceleration. Squat jumps are an example of plyometrics, because as you come up from the squat position, you jump as high as possible with your arms extended toward the ceiling, and as you land, you go into the squat before repeating the jump.

If you start gaining body fat, increase your cardiovascular workouts and eliminate saturated fats and simple sugar from your diet. You can’t just look at the pounds you weigh because some of your weight will be added muscle. Looking at your weight can make it seem like you aren’t making any progress at first, but scale weight doesn’t do a good job of gauging muscle growth.

It is very important that prior to working out, stretches are done. This is vital because it will help you not get injured during workouts. Plus, after-workout stretching will make recovery easier. Massage can be great for relaxing you and promoting recovery of your muscles, which is a necessary process for building stronger muscles.

Muscle building is built from more than just frequent trips to the gym, motivation or dedication. You have to know what you’re doing to get the results you want. This article can help you to improve your muscle building plan a number of different ways.
